Founded by producing-duo Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings (named two of "The Most Influential Women in International Film" in The Hollywood Reporter in 2025), Causeway Films focuses on the development and production of entertaining, socially relevant stories that allow original and diverse creative voices to achieve international success. Causeway launched with globally acclaimed THE BABADOOK, written and directed by Jennifer Kent, which premiered at Sundance 2014. Causeway also produced Jennifer Kent’s follow up feature THE NIGHTINGALE, which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.
Causeway's credits include Goran Stolevski's feature debut YOU WON’T BE ALONE (Sundance 2022, Focus Features, Australia’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 2022 Academy Awards®) and his follow up OF AN AGE which won the 2022 MIFF@Cinefest Oz Film Prize (MIFF 2022, Focus Features), as well as BLAZE by dual Archibald Prize winning artist Del Kathryn Barton, starring Simon Baker (Tribeca 2022, Sydney Film Festival Competition, Mk2 Films) and South African psychological horror GOOD MADAM by Jenna Cato Bass (TIFF 2021, Shudder).
Causeway’s feature TALK TO ME by YouTube sensations Danny & Michael Philippou (RackaRacka) premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where it sold to A24, followed by screenings at Berlinale, SXSW and a worldwide theatrical release, becoming A24’s top genre release in North America to date. In 2024, TALK TO ME received 8 AACTA Awards including Best Film, and lead actress Sophie Wilde recieved an EE BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination for her performance.

Causeway’s previous features include Australia’s first Netflix Original CARGO (2017), starring Martin Freeman, and BUOYANCY (2019) which premiered at the Berlinale and was Australia’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 2020 Academy Awards®. In 2024, Causeway released Stolevski's third feature HOUSEKEEPING FOR BEGINNERS (Venice 2023, Winner of the Queer Lion) and THE MOOGAI, winner of the 2024 CineFestOz Prize and screenings at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, MIFF and Sydney Film Festival, receiving the latter festival's Audience Award for Best Australian Feature.
In 2025, Causeway released the highly anticipated sophomore feature by Danny & Michael Philippou - BRING HER BACK - starring Academy Award Nominee Sally Hawkins. The film was released by A24 and Sony Pictures International worldwide in May 2025 to critical acclaim and commercial success. Causeway's latest feature, WENT UP THE HILL, directed by Samuel Van Grinsven and starring Vicky Krieps & Dacre Montgomery, had its World Premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and is set for a theatrical release in August 2025.
Upcoming Causeway projects include dark comedy THE FOX, written and directed by debut Australian filmmaker Dario Russo. Causeway has also announced the forthcoming debut film from Masha Ko, THE LOOMING, based on her Sundance Film Festival award-winning short film, and in collaboration with A24 and Square Peg. In 2026, Causeway will release DEATH MATCH, the documentary debut by Danny and Michael Philippou, again with A24 and are currently in development on TALK 2 ME, the sequel to the smash-hit film TALK TO ME.
Causeway’s feature films have won multiple awards at Venice, Berlinale, New York Film Critics Circle, to name a few, as well as numerous Australian Academy Awards (AACTAs).
